The American golfer Phil Mickelson has been grabbing all the attention since last year for his whopping $200 million deal with LIV Golf League. His latest performance during the final round of LIV Golf Invitational Singapore where he had to hit the ball into a green surrounded by water was so impressive that fans hilariously claimed that he “played with the confidence of $200 million in his pocket”.

Mickelson is no stranger to money and fortune. The lefty golfer used to own a compound in Rancho Santa Fe that was up for grabs for $ 7 million. The 9,500 square feet lavish house had two guesthouses, a pool, a horseshoe pit, and a three-hole putting green on five acres was built in 2001. Those who weren’t scared by the price tag and aspired to live like the famous golfer had a chance to realize their dream. The property was finally sold in late 2014 for $5.7 million to an unknown buyer.

Mickelson grabbed attention when he criticized PGA Tour for being “obnoxiously greedy” and accused them of not distributing the money to golfers fairly. He was in the news for being in talks with the Saudi-backed LIV Golf League.

Mickelson told his biographer Alan Shipnuck, “ They are scary motherf***ers to get involved with. We know they killed Jamal Khashoggi(Washington Post reporter) and have a horrible record on human rights. They execute people over there for being gay. Knowing all this, why would I even consider it? Because this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to reshape how the PGA Tour operates.”

He later apologized for his comments and went into relative seclusion for several months. Now the sports star seems to be back in the news for all the right reasons. Apart from him, Dustin Johnson was also reportedly paid a whopping sum of $125 million by the new league that is allegedly looking to destroy the PGA Tour. The competitors also include Ian Poulter, Kevin Na, Lee Westwood, Louis Oosthuizen, Martin Kaymer, Charl Schwartzel, and Talor Gooch. LIV League is another step that the Saudis are making to become a global player in sports. They have already made major investments into Football recently and now extending into other sports. The inclusion of stars such as Ronaldo and Mickelson is working greatly in their favor.
